Whether you're a surfer looking for the best waves, a foodie looking for great vegetarian food, or a nature lover looking for elephants and amazing scenery, Sri Lanka has it all. This mostly Buddhist island lies at the south eastern end of India and is the perfect place for picking up some island vibes.

The south western part of the island is more developed, more readily accessible and is the preferred option for those who seek a slice of paradise in a more developed setting, whereas the north easter part is the preferred option for a more off-the-beaten track adventure and really getting to understand the true extent of Sri Lankan history.

A couple of things are the same, no matter which side(s) of the island you visit: everyone is bound to see an elephant at some point during their trip, you will never get bored from all the different varieties of curry you can get and the train rides offer amazing scenery. Couple that with friendly locals dressed in colourful sari's, long white sand beaches, great snorkelling and diving and it makes Sri Lanka the perfect place for the adventure of a lifetime.
